Pearls are born when a sharp rock casually enters an oyster and its shell can’t free itself of it. To avoid being wounded, the animal covers it with the same substance it uses to cover the inside of the shell, making the rock smooth and shiny. Pearls are the oyster’s scars. In the same way, when we come into contact with the outside world, the first thing we expose are our closed wounds, which protect us from possible new ones. The “First Touch” project is born to create a “barrier”/“border” between the fragile parts of the body (the sternum, the palms of the hands) and the external world that could hurt them.
