These works are protection amulets to protect her “own room” of which Virgina Woolf spoke in her book “A Room of One's Own.” A while ago Monique discovered that to her that room represented her ability to create and that she needed to shelter it. With this in mind she created these pieces with some of her precious materials. She carefully chose each of these elements to help her tell her story and for their ability to transform into metaphors.
