Nial, the project title, means nest. It is a word from an ancient Cantabrian dialect from the land where Barbara was born, Cantabria, Spain. Recovering this word roots her and connects her with nature. These Niales represent the birth and breeding of newcomers to the world, but their niales are somewhat rough, abrupt, they manifest what some human beings are doing on earth, mistreatment and hostility to this world. She has directed the forms seeking the most harmonious development, trying to maintain the forms of organic materials, including color. That color that changes over time just like in nature. It is the part that she considers to be independent evolution.
