The portraits and images we construct of ourselves and each other are comprised of so much more than snapshots of just what is seen. These brooches use the form of traditional devotional jewelry, cameos and lover’s eyes. But instead of an eye or a profile the viewer is presented with worn pages of poetry and faded, illegible notes of intimacy. Literature and the written word is just one element of what comprises each of our complex portraits.
