On May 1, 1974, six days after the Carnation Revolution, Portugal experienced a historic moment of unity and celebration. Thousands of people took to the streets to commemorate Labor Day, demanding rights that had previously seemed unattainable. With the end of the fascist regime, hope arose for "peace, bread, housing, health, and education.” The festive atmosphere included parades of soldiers and windows decorated with blankets and carnations, symbols of newly won freedom. This day marked the beginning of a more just and democratic future for Portugal. In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the end of the dictatorship, the collection of pins "The People Took To The Streets" was launched to ensure that this dark period is never forgotten and never repeated.
