The wearables of James Thurman’s feature Thurmanite®, a material he invented which is made of layered recycled paper bonded with a plant-based resin, creating a truly environmental material. Specific books can be chosen for their content and influence the design of the piece. In his Vessel+Wearable series, the jewelry forms the lid of small vessels when not being worn. The earliest human expression was in the form of wearable found objects and he continues that dialog of the body and objects.
