When looking at the building blocks different arts operate with, they may appear as different as separate magisteria. However, the conceptual tools that we use to understand fiction in all these domains overlap a lot: use of compositionality for the blocks; motifs that evolve and change; the related notion of a theme; composition, in time or space, and so on. The generative processes in the mind are similar, some parameter is more important here or there, a few do not apply at all (narration is an afterthought for jewelry). Taking the process view, they are not that different.
