The boat is a powerful, universal symbol. It represents freedom, stability and exploration, but also hope, guidance and salvation.
Boat Rings I, II & III are made from driftwood pieces collected from the seashore after storm surges and high tides.
Where did the wood originate? How far did it travel? What conditions did it endure?
The surviving colours of the painted surface shine out like precious gems on the beach. The driftwood deserves to be cared for and cherished after its adventures at sea.
