A while ago, Juan’s mom told him she sometimes feels guilty for “taking” him and his siblings away from their birth country by adopting them... This side to an adoption is often forgotten.
These pieces remind Juan of an intensely warm youth. Of when he was young and wanted to help his mom when she was repairing and ironing clothes and he could “help” her by sewing together old handkerchiefs.
He wants these pieces to be a symbol of gratitude, love and acknowledgement for everything his parents gave them.
