As members of a social species, humans, by definition, cannot be free. What we crave is the feeling of freedom, and the only way to experience that is by contrasting it with the opposite condition. We thrive on the freedom to negotiate our terms of bondage. This exists in all areas of life, but in none is it more poetic than in the contracts associated with love. From the traditional idea of tying ourselves to one person, to the idea of eternal love, and now modern day apps on our telephone to share our exact location, we are constantly searching for happiness in entrapment.
